{"id":1294,"date":"2009-10-20T22:57:59","date_gmt":"2009-10-21T04:57:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.delirium.org\/?p=1294"},"modified":"2009-12-28T23:02:51","modified_gmt":"2009-12-29T05:02:51","slug":"ultimate-x-men-magical","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/delirium.org\/?p=1294","title":{"rendered":"Ultimate X-Men: Magical"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As much as I\u2019ve enjoyed Robert Kirkman\u2019s work in The Walking Dead series (and anticipate enjoying his work with Marvel Zombies), I must perforce be all the more disappointed by what I\u2019ve seen of his Ultimate X-Men run so far.\u00a0<a title=\"Ultimate X-Men Vol. 15: Magical by Robert Kirkman, at Amazon\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Ultimate-X-Men-Vol-15-Magical\/dp\/0785120203\/\" target=\"_blank\">Magical<\/a> initially expanded upon the character that I liked least in\u00a0<a title=\"My review of Ultimate X-Men: Phoenix?\" href=\"http:\/\/delirium.org\/?p=1269\" target=\"_blank\">his first book<\/a>, the Kirkman-created Magician, whose mutant power seems to be the ability to do, y\u2019know,\u00a0<em>anything<\/em>. Quelle fromage, as the French say.[1] So, after three issues of that chunk of disappointment, we proceed into the Annual, in which Kirkman continues his systematic destruction of Nightcrawler, who has always been one of my favorite characters. I guess there\u2019s a whole Marvel committee that approves of this stuff and possibly even suggests it, and that therefore my blame is somewhat misplaced. Nevertheless, I do not approve.
